Minors Policy
Last updated: 17 May 2026
This policy explains how did:pic handles users who are minors (under 18) and how we keep underage users (under 13) off the platform.
Minimum age
You must be at least 13 years old to use did:pic. If you're between 13 and 18, additional restrictions apply (see below).
If we become aware that someone under 13 has signed up, we'll close the account. Parents or guardians who believe a child under 13 has created an account can email [email protected] with the handle or DID, and we'll act on it.
18+ features
Some features require you to verify you're 18 or older:
- Changing content moderation settings. By default, content labelled NSFW is hidden. To change that setting (to show or blur), you must complete an age check.
We use the operating system's age verification API:
- iOS 26 and newer: Apple's Declared Age Range
- Android 15 and newer: Google's Play Age Signals
These APIs tell us only whether you're 18 or older. We don't receive your actual age or date of birth. If your device's OS doesn't support these APIs, the moderation-settings screen is locked at the default values for everyone (NSFW remains hidden).
What minors see by default
- NSFW-labelled posts are hidden. The default applies regardless of age — minors and adults who haven't verified see the same thing.
- Posts by accounts with account-level moderation labels are also hidden.
- Direct messages do not exist on did:pic at this time.
Reporting concerns
If you're a parent, guardian, or anyone concerned about a minor's experience on did:pic — for example, suspected predatory behaviour, sharing of content harmful to a minor, or an underage user — email [email protected]. We treat these reports as high priority.
We also report content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children to NCMEC and to law enforcement where required.
